Long Shadows

Shadows are getting longer; the day a bit shorter. Mornings are dusted at times with a tinge of frost. Sun streams through the blue-gray clouds by day, warming the earth for a moment. The yellow and brown hue of the leaves dominate the visual senses, and the earthy/spicey sent wafts through the crisp air. Then the sun drops behind the horizon leaving golden rays to bath the treeline. No longer are the sounds of summer, the crickets, the frogs and night birds heard. They too know autumn days and nights are upon us. The season that sometimes seems the shortest, but one that stimulates the senses in every way. Drink it in, drink it all in and let it fill to inebriation.
